What type of hair do you have?

What type of hair do you have? Is your hair straight, wavy, curly or afro? This first question is easy to answer, but wait, there’s more! Is your hair thin, normal or thick? And, not only this, do you have dry, mixed or oily hair? Could you give us a unique answer?

We know. It’s not easy. Specifying what type of hair you have can be more complicated than finding the perfect vacation destination to enjoy with your partner. Knowing that he prefers the sea and you the mountains, and that you do not even share the same vacation days. Right?!

The good thing is that your partner will give in this year and it will be your turn the next, but… your hair will not give up! And even less probable since we are here to take care of it. So, if you want to know what type of hair you have, this information can be very useful! In addition, it will help guide you when choosing the best care for your hair. Let’s see!

Hair types

It is often said that each person is different. We don't want to get nerdy, but we won’t lie to you. Every hair is different too. Even so, we can get to differentiate types of hair according to its texture, its shape and its level of dryness.

  • Types of hair according to the texture: thin, normal and thick.
  • Types of hair according to the shape: straight, wavy, curly and afro.
  • Hair types according to dryness: dry, mixed and oily.

What care does each of them need? Let's review the best natural products by hair type so that your bathroom does not lack that magic GRANT potion that will become your ally everyday to show off your hair.

Thin hair

Before we start, let's debunk a great myth! Having thin hair does not mean having less amount of hair. It means having hair with less body and weaker. When thinking of thin hair, we usually only highlight its negative part: weakness and lack of volume, but thin hair is also characterized by its flexibility and shine. Proper care of this type of hair involves using natural products (link to Repair & Nutrition) that nourish, strengthen and repair it. We recommend shampoos for thin hair that are light and do not add too much weight because they could weigh down your hair.

Normal hair

Normal. One of the most used words and emptiest of meaning… What do we mean by having normal hair? Well, we refer to that hair that is not thin or weakens easily but that needs some care that nourishes and strengthens it to ensure its health.

Thick hair

This type of hair has thicker follicles and is distinguished by having a high percentage of protein in the cuticle. What does this feature imply? Well, its water retention capacity increases. This means that it is normal that when you have thick hair it will frizz easier. Does this sound familiar to you? ? And not only this, it also tangles faster and its appearance is duller. All that a thick hair needs is a natural shampoo that provides nutrition and shine, and the use of an intensive mask more frequently (2 or 3 times a week). Easy isn’t it?!

Straight hair

If you have straight hair it is important that you use a specific shampoo. Straight hair tends to stand out due to its shine (bright like a diamond) but, at the same time, it becomes heavy and oily easily. We recommend the use of a straight hair shampoo to help you regulate the sebum on the scalp.

Wavy hair

SSSS… Wavy hair is S-type-hair. Waves fall gracefully, shiny, strong and gracefully on your shoulders except when there is moisture, which chews tragedy. How should you care for wavy hair? Nourishing it, hydrating it and avoiding the frizz and tangles that this type of hair usually shows. In this sense, and even more so if you have long wavy hair, it is very important to comb it with a wide bristle brush. Like this the ends won’t break and follow the appropriate direction: start at the ends and work your way up to the roots. Only by combing from top to bottom you be able to eliminate all tangles and show off natural wavy hair!

Curly hair

Your mood depends on how good your curls look? If your curly hair can make you the center of attention or it can even keep you out of the house… It's because you don't always take care of it with the right curly hair products! Curly hair needs basic care that provides hydration and nutrition as they tend to be drier and more brittle. A natural coconut oil shampoo is a safe bet in this case. On the other hand, curly hair needs volume and definition, but… with control! To achieve the desired result, use a natural conditioner without silicone to define the curls curls avoiding the frizz effect.

Afro hair

Afro hair does not go unnoticed. What a volume!? What a personality!? The key to caring for this type of hair, which is usually very dry and thick, is to deeply hydrate it. Never miss a nourishing mask on your bathroom shelf! In addition, using a natural shampoo that enhances its volume will also allow you to get the most out of it, which is a lot!

Dry hair

Dry hair breaks very easily and tends to appear dull and duller. Put a remedy with these following indications! Firstly, use a hydrating and nourishing shampoo that contains nourishing oils to hydrate dry hair. Secondly, complete the care with a moisturizing conditioner that has a creamy consistency and leave it on for 2 minutes, on the clock! Sometimes time really does make a difference. And thirdly and lastly, once a week, use a natural mask for dry hair that is revitalising. Also, if you want a GRANT tip, we recommend avoiding direct heat. Dry hair does not tolerate high temperatures well, so avoid using the dryer or flat/styling irons.

Mixed hair

Neither dry nor greasy. Mixed hair is when your scalp has a tendency to get greasy, but the ends are dry and even break. To hydrate the ends without feeding the sebaceous glands.. Hard isn’t it? We recommend using a deep repair serum that you will apply only to the damaged ends. For the rest of the hair, what should you do? Massage the scalp with a shampoo for oily hair that provides the necessary nutrients.

Oily hair

Greasy hair is NOT dirty hair! If you have already made the mistake of washing it over and over again and you continue feeling the same, we recommend that you consider changing the product and start using a specific shampoo for oily hair that helps you balance and regulate the sebaceous glands.

If you trust the power of nature, as we do, we recommend using a shampoo that contains natural ingredients such as grapefruit. Citrus fruits have antioxidant and purifying properties that help balance hair oil by regulating excess sebum. A perfect solution for oily hair!
